I got rejected from 47 jobs before landing at Google.

Here is what nobody tells you about the job search:

After rejection #47, I stopped applying the "normal" way. Instead, I did 3 things differently:

1. I stopped writing cover letters and started sending 2-minute Loom videos.
Result: My response rate went from 3% to 28%.

2. I stopped applying to 20 jobs a week and focused on 3.
Result: Each application was 10x more researched and personalized.

3. I stopped listing responsibilities and started quantifying impact.
"Managed social media" became "Grew Instagram from 2K to 45K in 8 months, generating $120K in attributed revenue."

The job market is not harder than it used to be.
It is just noisier.

The people who stand out are not the most qualified.
They are the best storytellers.
